I look at my friend's churches (more than one), and I see the way how they put their church friends above all their other friends, how their church friends fall under their "top friends" (not that I know of anyone how rates their friends but you get my drift), how they talk to each other during the week (a whole group not just two mutually exclusive people), how they actually go out with each other during the week and not just on Sundays...And I realise my church is so different. No one goes out with each other (except those that are attached to each other which is kinda DUH right), there's no group of friends- everyone's so 'alone' or with their siblings and they just go home after service. In a way that's good because there's no 'exclusive group' to outcast them or intimidate them, but on more ways than one it could be seen as bad because who's going to talk to them when the people in church don't even talk to those already in church, much less newcomers. And who's there to welcome them if the churchgoers themselves feel unwelcomed? Friendships are so superficial it's mostly 'fun' because we're poking fun at each other calling them 'fat' 'short' 'weird' and we all say "it's fun it's swell" but at the end of the day how much more do we know about each other, other than the fact he/she's 'fat' 'short' 'weird' and how much more do we learn about ourselves? I'm not saying that each and every friendship that we have has to be deep because that's just being unrealistic and scary. I'm just saying that I wish church would mean more to me, and more to the people in my church to the extent that we would bother forging true friendships and church would be a place we can call our 'second home'. True you might refute me and say that church is about worshipping God and nothing else, but didn't the Bible say that fellowship is important too?
I'm so tempted to say "Whatever" and walk away from all this but I won't because the fact is that I do care. I just don't know how to solve everything. In any case, rant's over. Goodnight.

I'm working on a project. I bought the main part more than a month ago, and the rest of the materials today. Okay I should stop this monologue since no one seems to know what I'm talking about haha.

Hi all! I'm back for youth camp! :) :) It was really really fun. The BB boys actually made the camp a lot more fun they're super funny. Plus, they have cool phones. Seriously. One had a phone that looked like it had braille on it but it turned out to be music control buttons.
OMG SO COOL RIGHT?!?!?!?
The music buttons are so cool. And one of the bbBOYS had a PINK phone. Bet my brother is envious hahaha.
First day went Air Rifling it was kinda cool...just that I wasn't strong enough to use the real one I had to use the noob one HAHAHHA. But it's okay, because WE WON! We had Ken in our group and out of 100, he had 96. Crazy huh. But I guess that's what army does to you. And then we had another round, and out of 50, he scored 50. And he was saying how the guns in army were cooler hahaha.
Next day we had games and I fell and broke my jaw. haha. No but seriously. I fell and started bleeding near my chin and I couldn't open my mouth and my arms were sore and I was, quote Weizhen, an "invalid" LOL. And the bb boys (Sam and Dan actually) put their first aid skills to the test by cleaning my wound haha. It was more of a gash. So that was kinda cool.
we went laser quest that was fun I totally trashed the boys in the first round :D :D And my group won all our rounds!
At night was BBQ dinner which I could hardly enjoy since I couldnt open my mouth boo. Night games at 12midnight this was fun. At 2am the boys went to go play soccer (insane right??) and the real police came. HAHA. So they stopped and we went up to watch a movie. We were too tired to move back to our rooms so 12guysandgirls squeezed into one tiny teevee room.
Everyone was pretty much dead the next day, sleeping on the floor while waiting for the next programme. After lunch, the boys went to go play soccer again. I swear they are a bit crazy.
Anyway. Picture time! :D (And if you're wondering why there are so many boys in the photos, the boys easily outnumber the girls 2-1 sigh)
This picture is just too hilarious:
OMG LENARD CHENG HAHAHAHA

But anyway. I was on the train today (in fact, I take the train almost every day!) and it dawned on me, that trains have the funniest people, ever! Good or bad, it works both ways. Mostly the latter, but I could just be biased.
Let's begin with the group known as "Starers". These people do nothing but stare at passengers, and of course, stare at their reflections. The extreme of the last point is to stare at their reflections on their own mirror (not just the train windows) or plainly stare at themselves. Those I don't mind. The ones that freak me out are those that stare at you. Yes, you! They single out a poor victim, and begin their staring game.
Case in point, I was on a train home one day and 3m away from me, I spotted this man staring at me. Whether he wanted my seat since he was standing or he wanted to scare people, it's anyone's guess. In any case, I was curious so I stared back. He didn't flinch. And contrary to that, he stared back harder! And literally stare. Like, eyes-opened-as-big-as-50cent-coins-without-blinking-once kinda stare. In the end I gave up and looked out the window. Not my own reflection mind you.
Example number two was yesterday afternoon. On the train from Bugis to Raffles Place, the train was mighty crowded and I had to stand. The woman who was seated in front of me and surprise surprise, started staring at me. She didn't just stare at me, but she stared me up and down, up and down. Maybe she was wondering if I were a male or female because of my flat chest (totally kidding) or considering to rip me apart for no apparent reason. Hmmm. Thank goodness it was only two stops so I didn't have to put up with her weird stares.
The second group can be called the "ear-bleeders". These people make your ears want to bleed because of the noise coming from them. The first kind talk to their friend who is within a 50cm radius of them and the train is not that crowded yet they are shouting at the top of their lungs as though either they are deaf or their friend is deaf. Don't blame others if they eavesdrop on who you have a crush on hmm.
The second kind is those that think their phones are the coolest thing on earth and blast music as their way of attracting attention to their phone (or maybe themselves, but who knows heh). People have mp3s (earphones included) because they want to listen to their own music. Not everyone wants to listen to the hokkien songs or weird songs that you listen to thanks. So please think twice about blasting music from your phone. Oh and on the way out of the train, please go and buy a pair of earphones for your phone thanks. =)
The third group can be called the "door-magnets" or crudely, "lazy". These people think that they are the North Pole and the train door is the South Pole. Also, these people seemingly assume that by standing near the train doors, they are being very cool. Wrong! It's so annoying especially when you need to squeeze out of the train. I don't understand why people want to stand near the door (other than the fact it's near the door.) It is much less crowded in the centre of the carriage since there are a lot of door-magnets, and thus much cooler. Moreover, by standing in the centre of the carriage, you have a higher chance of getting an available seat! (Kiasuism coming into practice heh)
Those are about all I can think of now. Before you decide to click the "comment" button and start typing "SO YOU THINK YOU ARE VERY RIGHTEOUS IZZIT?? THAT YOU CAN GO AND CRITICIZE OTHER PEOPLE", let me assure you that this is just a rant and is in no way meant to offend people, and sometimes, I may be guilty of some. Like staring into the window when the train is in a tunnel because I think my hair is out of place or laughing my ass off in a conversation no one's really interested to hear (I think).
And this post should be long enough to fill my blogging quota (haha kidding, I don't have one) since I'm going to be gone for three days for Youth Camp. Bye!
Dear G....d I hate the way we are so distant now I hate the way we can't talk like you used to I hate the way I'm to fcking scared to call you I hate the way I can know everything in my Biology textbook yet I have no idea how to fix this friendship. I don't know if you care or not, but I do. And if you don't want us to be the way we were, I understand. But I really hope you don't.
I'm scared to confront you. I'm scared we'll fight again. I'm scared I'll lose this friendship for real. Please, talk to me again.
Listening to Coldplay...hotplay...whatever-play...makes me sad hmmm. :( :(
Time Is Time is Seemingly linear Digits that dictate when we do What we do
Time is Priceless and should never be compared with money Just like how we can never exchange time for money Money can't purchase time either
Time is Fleeting Travelling on a one-way track, never going back Once past, it becomes a moment, a memory
Of all the things that time can be One strikes out the most to me
Time is What I used to spend with you Forgive me if I compare it with money Like a bank without input (we) keep taking, never putting anything in Now we've run out of (time)
And I don't have the slightest idea how to change things To bring us back to how we were in the past- Carefree, not burdened; Friends, not strangers.
Book - $20 Movie - $6 Lunch - $6.50 Toy - $7 Food at muji - $2 Starbucks - $6 Total: $47.5
Experience - Priceless.
Went down to Borders to find The Shadow Of The Wind. I've read it before, but I want to get my own copy, and now I do! It's the pretty version that looks like this.
Luwin and I were talking about the different covers like:
And both of us like the first one (Angela's got that too!) with the exception of his $60 "Limited Edition" book haha! And we came to a conclusion: So much for 'Don't judge a book by its cover' heh. Anyway. The book is many stories woven together; a book within a book with secrets planted between chapters. It's like love, adventure, suspense, mystery, history all in one. And even though I'm not able to give a nice blurb because I hardly ever write such stuff, I really highly recommend reading it because I like it so much I actually bought a copy for myself. And that speaks a lot because out of the almost 40 books I've read this year, I didn't buy a single one of them.
Next up, Four Christmas. To put it crudely, it sucked. There was NO EYE CANDY (okay this is so superficial but still. which movie doesn't have eye candy?!) and secondly, I didn't like the way they portrayed Christmas and Christians. As F451 (we can never really get enough of this book can we?) says "about the way we are dressing Christ up, or is it dressing him down?" yeahh. And I hated the way they depicted the charismatic worship and how church is like a concert, and it doesn't even talk about the true meaning of Christmas :(.
Plus, the storyline is tres draggy. Imagine viewing a visit to a family x4. One dysfunctional family makes for comedy, 4 dysfunctional families makes for a torture to sit through. There wasn't much character development, so they appeared very one-dimensional and predictable. If I had to rate how much I enjoyed it, it'll probably be 1.5/5 stars. And that's because my friend and I were making anti-climatic comments to ammuse ourselves and talking about a make-believe ghost under our chairs hmm.
Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon do not make a good on screen couple it's so fake. Okay I'm just biased because I want to see her with Mark Ruffalo from Just Like Heaven (whoo!) and I don't like Vince Vaughn why in the world did Jenn An go out with him sigh.
Rants over. On a happy note, I got to drink the green tea frap (otherwise know as "green diarrhoea" to Ryan Higga haha). On the way home, my train stopped just ONE stop before my stop as the train track "folded". Whatever that means man. So unlucky. Plus, on the train ride home, there was this man staring me down it was so freaky. I stared back, and he wasn't even ashamed. In fact, he stared harder! Fine he won the 'staring competition' it was really scary I couldn't stand looking at his face it gives me nightmares sigh. If he wanted the seat, he could have just asked right! In any case, I didn't give up my seat since he looked 30/40plus and perfectly capable of standing :D
